I Have Socks

Well, of course I have socks, but I’m referring to a very special pair. A gorgeous pair. Of the “thick-warm-squishy homespun” kind.

I’m very happy with the way they turned out. They’re so warm! I originally wanted a fancier “all-over” pattern on the socks, but it would have made the finished sock too thick. This way they’re nice, usable socks that look good. And they fit into my shoes, which is a definite advantage.

And I learned something about spinning sock yarn in the process. Watch out for those teeny-tiny “twists” in the singles.

There are several (if not many) of those little curlycues sticking out of the socks at odd angles. I guess it comes from not having a tensioned bobbin holder . . . and not paying as much attention as I should. (I’m not going to blame the Walking Wheel.) But I just love the way the colors turned out. It reminds me very much of the original batt.
